Baccarat Chandeliers – The Perfect Crystal Chandelier For You

Baccarat was originally the name of a location which was renowned for glass production. A glass manufacturing factory was built there in 1765 by the Lord Bishop of Metz, with production that was limited just to mirrors and stemware at the time. In fact, Baccarat only ventured into crystal-making in the early 1800s when the factory was bought by D’Artigues, an owner of glassworks in Voneche, Northern France.

Under the new management, crystal or lead-containing glass of high quality were manufactured which made this company recognized amongst the wealthy. Due to the popularity of this brand, the Baccarat logo was registered as a trade mark in the mid-1800s. Since then, a genuine piece of crystal made by the original Baccarat factory would have the words Baccarat in block letters molded onto the piece. A century later, the marking method was replaced with acid-etching which remains in the Baccarat crystals of today.

Baccarat chandeliers have been designed to be versatile, elegant and in some cases unique. For instance, the Crinoline chandeliers have been designed with long, sharp-end dangling crystals held on by a gold-gilt metal framework in the shape of an oval surrounding the lighting. Apart from that, chandeliers with more conventional designs are the Baccarat crystal chandeliers. These are available in stemming candelabra types, where only the chandeliers seem to be fully made of glass.

Furthermore, another type of Baccarat chandelier is the Helios chandelier platforms. These are one-tiered chandeliers with candelabra of 48 lights which are arranged spiraling upwards towards the center stem-piece. When combined with string crystals, these seem to counter-flow outwards from the center, creating a brilliant masterpiece effect both in lighting and artistic design.

Baccarat’s chandeliers with contemporary designs are also available within the Mille Nuits chandelier line. Chandeliers in this range consist of transparent budding flowers surrounding each lighting end. The three-tiered ones comprise of 42 lights and measures at an amazing eight feet in height. Apart from that the flower design or this chandelier projects a simple and elegant feel to the dining hall, a trait that all Baccarat chandelier designs aim to achieve.
