Capiz Chandeliers: Something Out Of The Ordinary

A chandelier is usually associated with different materials such as glass, wood, ceramic, wrought iron, brass etc. But have you ever heard of or seen a chandelier that was made from sea shells? Not just one or two shells placed here and there, but an entire chandelier made from nothing other than shells. Well, with a capiz chandelier, you can!

What Is A Capiz Chandelier?

A capiz chandelier is one that is made from capiz shells. These shells are originally sourced from the Philippines, but nowadays, capiz chandeliers are being made all over the world.

The genuine ones are made from the capiz shells only, but many capiz type chandeliers are also available which are made from other kinds of shells. Some reproduction chandeliers are also made from PVC material disks in the shape of shells, and not from real shells.

The most popular type is the tiered chandelier. A tiered capiz-chandelier has many tiers (1, 2, or more) which can all be either in the white color, or different tiers can be painted a different color, so as to make the chandelier really bright and pretty.

To complete the entire sea picture, many chandelier makers use fishing line to connect and string together the many shells of the chandelier. If you are a sea lover and all things marine make your heart sing, you will be absolutely thrilled with a capiz chandelier.

A single handelier can be the focal point of any room. When placed in one corner, the chandelier can also double up as a decorative hanging, in addition to giving you some much needed light. Two small chandeliers on either end of a long dining table or a living room sofa can also look unique and striking.

As original capiz style chandeliers are made from real shells, they are quite difficult to find and go out of stock soon. So if you do find one, you should waste no time in getting one for your home.
