The Unique Designs Of George Kovacs Chandeliers
George Kovacs is a big name when it comes to lamps and lighting fixtures because of this designer’s extraordinary and sometimes bizarre lamp creations. Therefore, asking for a common-place George Kovacs chandelier would be almost impossible.
George Kovacs Chandelier Collections
The George Kovacs chandelier collection is made up of just 13 chandeliers which are easily separable by four different family styles: Plato, Vaasa, Kimono and Simply Kovacs. Each chandelier stands out on its own and caters for modern home interior decoration.
The Plato chandelier collection showcases chandeliers that are layered with a chrome finish, giving it a studio-light effect. In the path of the light are clear glass panes, available in either blue only or with a combination of both yellow and orange. This three light chandelier costs $420 and is best installed against a dark or grey colored ceiling for full lighting effects.
Apart from that, the chandeliers from the Vaasa line are equipped with cherry wood stem pieces with frameworks of brushed nickel to hold up the lighting fixtures. The unique cylinder shades are made from delightful white pleated linen which are either 5-bulb (single-tiered) or 6-bulb (double-tiered).
For more contemporary shades, buyers can opt for chandeliers from the Kimono family. The cylinder shades are made from silk of beige or black color, which are fixed onto thick blocks of either wood or metal. These chandeliers are then suspended by steel cables or relatively thin stem pieces.
The last collection is called Simply Kovacs, where stem-pieces are made from nickel and the shades are made from cased etched opal. The uniqueness of this design is the metal frameworks from which the shades are attached to. They come in rectangle, a rounded edged oval and a sharp edge oval. In each design a smaller replica of the shape hangs a little higher than the larger chandelier.
