Transitional Chandeliers: Traditional Meets Contemporary
Over the years, many transitional type chandelier designs have surfaced and one good example would be the Valley Forge chandelier by Quoizel Lighting.
This outstanding chandelier consists of shades that are made to cover 60 watt electrical bulbs in the shape of upturned Venice gold glasses. This is in great contrast with the Imperial Bronze finish applied onto the chandelier stem sections, and is sold at a price of $400. At more than twice that price, there is also the crystal Pineapple chandelier. This design incorporates 12 electric candles attached to the crystal stem piece by thin swirling metal extensions, separated into two rows of lights.
World Imports is also another manufacturer which deals with unique chandeliers. One of these special transitional chandeliers is made up of three candelabra encased within a cylinder made from clear glass. Held up with intricately designed frameworks which have a finish of French Gold, this nine inch wide chandelier is similar to an old street lamp which people used to light by hand when night falls. Another beautifully designed chandelier from World Imports is from the San Marino family. The framework is laced with Monterrey Beige finish with silver highlights and its frosted glass shades add to the golden color effect of the 30 inches wide chandelier. Each of the five shades are wide rimmed and shaded at the edges for effect. Upon observation, the middle stem piece seems to have lashed out at each shade and in the act of pulling them in, gets locked in a curling up position, forever capturing the motion as a piece of the artwork.
